Betty J. Brown, born on December 22, 1936, in Santa Anna, Texas, passed away on August 23, 2026, at Diversicare of Southaven, MS where she had been living with her daughter, Trudee.
Betty lived most of her life in Bryan, Texas, where she became a familiar and valued presence to many. For most of her career, she worked at the front desk at Don's Carpet in Bryan, a role through which she met and helped countless people over the years. She will be remembered not only for her steady work and welcoming manner, but also for the simple joys that brought meaning to her life.
She loved to travel and take trips with her family, creating memories through time spent together. Betty also loved to read and work in the yard, enjoying both quiet moments and the satisfaction of caring for the space around her. To her grandchildren, she was lovingly known as MeMaw, a name that speaks to the affection and closeness she shared with her family.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Trudee Logan and her husband Terry Eugene Logan Jr., and her son, James David Wittie and his wife Katherine Rogers. She also leaves behind (8) grandchildren, (13) great grandchildren, (4) great-great-grandchildren, and her beloved cat, Brat, all of whom carry forward her memory with love.
She was preceded in death by her father, Truman Brown; her mother, Helen Brown; and her son, Jackie Jowayne Wittie and his wife Diane Wittie.
Betty’s life was marked by devotion to family, enjoyment of life’s everyday pleasures, and a lasting presence in the hearts of those who knew her. Interment will take place at Concho Cemetery in Paint Rock, Texas, at a later date.
