Betty Jean Youngblood Bowers

Mrs. Betty Jean Youngblood Bowers of Nesbit, Mississippi, passed away February 25, 2026 at ninety years of age. Miss Betty, as she was known by many, led a life filled with service. She was a member of St. Paul Church, a devoted member of The Mother Cabrini Circle and a longstanding member of the philanthropic sorority Delta Theta Tau. In her career at the Teamsters Local 667, she made sure the members got the help they needed and did this with a smile on her face and in her heart. Her last activity before her health declined was filling food boxes for the needy with the ladies of Mother Cabrini. She treasured the many wonderful friendships she made through service and it warmed her heart to know that she had made a difference in someone else’s life.

She was a native of Sardis, Mississippi. After marrying R.D. Bowers Jr. of Holly Springs, MS, they moved to Memphis, TN and later to Nesbit, MS. She was preceded in death by Den (2001), as well as her parents Robert Leon Youngblood and Eula Irene Scott Youngblood, her younger brother James M. “Jimmy” Younglood and his wife Patty Sue Fite Youngblood, as well as her sister in law Judy McClanahan Youngblood. She leaves behind her children and grandchildren, and her brother Robert Youngblood of Oxford, MS. She was a loving mother to Elaine Bowers Coventry and Steven Bowers, a kind mother-in-law to Garth Coventry and Stacey Madison Bowers, and a (very) proud grandmother to Kylie Bowers and Dylan Bowers.

The family would like to thank the staff at Baptist Hospital Rehabilitation and the Goldton of Southaven for the kindness and care that they gave to Miss Betty.

 Funeral service will be 10:00 AM on Monday March 2, 2026 at St. Paul Catholic Church located at 1425 E. Shelby Dr. in Memphis, TN. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Mother Cabrini or St. Jude.
