Charles Reed Herrmann

Jan 22, 1952 — Jun 24, 2026

Memphis, Tennessee

Charles Reed Herrmann, 74, of Memphis, Tennessee, was born January 22, 1952, and passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on June 24, 2026.

Born to Charles Edwin Herrmann and Patricia Hayes Herrmann, Charlie spent his career installing security systems in commercial buildings and correctional facilities across the region. He was a man who followed code to the letter, did things right the first time, and took quiet pride in knowing his work kept people safe.

He is survived by his wife, Sally Liddell Herrmann; his daughter, Ashley Herrmann Happ and her husband Michael of Germantown, Tennessee, and their children William Kane, Emma, and Charlotte; and his son, Reed Bernard Herrmann and his wife Kimberlee of Lakeland, Tennessee, and their children Vivien, Eliza, and Wyatt. He also leaves behind his sister, Donna Boyce Sneed of Hernando, Mississippi; his brothers, Gary Herrmann and his wife Linda of Ooltewah, Tennessee, Mark Herrmann and his wife Brandy of Burnet, Texas, and Raymond LaForest of Fort Walton, Florida; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who loved him dearly and will miss his quirk greatly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Edwin Herrmann, Patricia Hayes Herrmann LaForest, and Bernard Alison LaForest.

The Herm had a lifelong love of dogs and the outdoors. He was happiest on the water kayaking or lost somewhere in the woods. He also quietly carried a creative soul, one that found expression in poetry, wood art, stamp collecting, and doodling. He was beautifully unique, and those who knew him knew there was simply no one else quite like him.

Herm met the thrill of his life, Sally, at Miss Kittys in 1978 and spent the decades that followed building a life, a family, and memories worth banking.

“Happy trails to you, until we meet again”

A celebration of life will be held on July 18, 2026with details to follow.
