Charles Edward Thompson

Charles Edward Thompson, known as Charlie, passed away peacefully at his home in Greenleaf on July 26, 2026, at the age of 80. Born on August 29, 1945, in Memphis, Tennessee, Charlie’s life was marked by an unwavering devotion to his family, a steadfast work ethic, and an abiding kindness that touched the lives of all who knew him.

Charlie was the husband of Lou Ann Thompson, who stood by his side throughout life’s journey. Together, they built a family that brought him immense pride and joy. He is survived by his devoted daughters, Donna Thompson Young and her husband Jeremy and  Amy Patrick and her husband Rod, as well as his brother Robert Thompson. His legacy continues through his beloved grandchildren, Jonathan Patrick (Becca), Natalie Patrick, and Emily Patrick, who each held a special place in his heart.

Charlie's early years were shaped by a deep sense of duty and integrity, values that guided him throughout his life. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army, a chapter of his life that he remembered with dignity and respect. Charlie devoted much of his professional life to Three T Farms in Senatobia, Mississippi, where he worked as a dairyman. Colleagues and friends remember his tireless dedication and the quiet pride he took in his work.

After retirement, Charlie found new purpose working as a funeral assistant at Brantley-Phillips Funeral Home. In this role, his compassionate nature and willingness to help others provided comfort and solace to many families during difficult times.

A man of simple pleasures, Charlie delighted in the tranquility of fishing and the satisfaction of tending his garden. These hobbies reflected his appreciation for life’s quiet moments and the beauty of the natural world. Friends, neighbors, and family alike knew him as someone always willing to lend a helping hand, a trait that earned him the genuine affection and gratitude of his community.

While he is deeply missed by those who survive him, Charlie now joins loved ones who predeceased him in eternal rest. He was the beloved son of Robert and Orelia Thompson, and shared close bonds with his sisters Joyce Root, Fannie Olmo, and JoAnn Sawyer, who have also passed on.

The family invites friends and loved ones to remember and celebrate Charlie’s life during services at Mt Manna Baptist Church, 7805 Palestine Rd, Coldwater, MS 38618. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Greenleaf Cemetery, 3005 Greenleaf Rd, Coldwater, MS 38618.

Charles Edward Thompson will be remembered for his enduring generosity, his gentle spirit, and the legacy of love he leaves behind. His memory will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
