Donald Glenn Gibbs

Donald Glenn Gibbs, affectionately known as Donnie, passed away on August 24, 2026, in Groves, Texas, where he had been living with his daughter, Cynthia. He was born on December 24, 1953, in Memphis, Tennessee.

Donnie built a life marked by hard work and familiar pleasures. He was a retired transmission builder for Johnson Transmission in Memphis, Tennessee, a career that reflected his steady dedication and strong work ethic. Outside of work, he found joy in the things he loved most. He enjoyed watching drag racing, both in person and on television, and he was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and Memphis Tigers basketball. He also loved spending time fishing and deer hunting.

He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Gibbs Mandeville. He also leaves behind a large and cherished family of grandchildren: Sabrina Mandeville, Juliet Mandeville, Daniel Mandeville, Lillie "Iza" Nyx, Destiny Campbell (Joey), and his great grandchildren: Gabriel, Gerith, Grayson, Brayden, Carlyn, and Allen. Donnie is also survived by his stepchildren, Tony Burks, Pamela Roberts, and Jody McClain, along with his step-grandchildren, Dalton Gardner, Brittany Wheat, Tyler Booth, Darrell Adams, Savanna Roberts, Sierra Roberts, Katherine McAlister, and Candice Burks. His family carries forward his memory with love and gratitude.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Gibbs; his mother, Odessa Gibbs; his brother, Jimmy Gibbs; his daughter, Lillie Gibbs; and his stepdaughter, Rhonda Roberts.

Family and friends are invited to gather for visitation on Friday, September 4, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Brantley Phillips Funeral Home, 2470 Hwy 51 S, Hernando, Mississippi 38632. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park - South, 2545 E Holmes Rd, Memphis, Tennessee 38118.

Donnie will be remembered for his devotion to family, his years of honest work, and the enjoyment he found in the sports and outdoor pastimes he loved. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved him.
