Durward Elliot Chamberlin, 74, affectionately known as "Dur," was born on July 29, 1951, in Hernando, Mississippi. He passed away on February 24, 2026, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, leaving behind a lasting legacy of service, dedication, and love.
Dur dedicated 42 years of his life to Entergy, proudly serving as a Lineman, Senior Lineman, and eventually as Operations Coordinator. His commitment to his career reflected his steadfast work ethic and his ability to connect with colleagues and the community. Dur's passion for the outdoors and his hands-on approach to work characterized his demeanor and relationships with others.
An Ole Miss fan, Dur's spirited enthusiasm extended beyond his professional life into his personal interests. He was a proud graduate of Hernando High School, Class of 1969, and furthered his education at Northwest Mississippi Community College and Ole Miss.
Dur also served his country for 14 years in the National Guard, showcasing his dedication to both his community and his nation. This sense of duty was central to his character, making him an example of resilience and honor.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Brenda Chamberlin, and his children: Chad Chamberlin and his wife Sonya of Bartlett, Tennessee; Dane Chamberlin and his wife Amy of Coldwater, Mississippi; Joey McClain and his wife Donna of Ripley, Mississippi; and daughter Stephanie Davis of Hernando, Mississippi. Dur was a cherished brother to William Thomas Chamberlin. He took immense pride in his grandchildren: Madisen, Kaleb, Dylan, Barrett, Jon-Tyler McClain and his wife Shelby, Hannah Rakestraw, Braden McClain and his wife Libbie, and Gracen McClain, as well as his great-grandchildren: Maysen, Ella, Makinley, Emma, Mox, Jon-Marshall, and Nataleigh.
Dur was predeceased by his parents, William and Ruth "Rooshie" Chamberlin, and his sisters Mary Katherine Treadway "Kacky" and Buleah Young "Sissy." Their memories remain a guiding force in the lives of those he leaves behind.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a Visitation on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a Funeral Service at 1:00 PM at Brantley Phillips Funeral Home located at 2470 Highway 51 South, Hernando, Mississippi.
Dur's legacy is one of kindness, strength, and devotion. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him and will forever live on in their hearts. His signature phrase, "That's Right," will resonate as a reminder of his spirited nature and the positive impact he had on those around him.
