Elmer Richard "Rick" Locke

Elmer Richard Locke, 90,  affectionately known as Rick, passed away on March 24, 2026, at Baptist Desoto Hospital in Southaven, Mississippi. Born on January 3, 1936, in Victoria, Mississippi, Rick lived a life marked by dedication, both in his professional career and personal commitments.

A proud graduate of Byhalia High School, Rick went on to serve his country through the Air National Guard, demonstrating a steadfast patriotism. Following his military service, he pursued a career as a sales agent at The Grand Casino in Tunica, Mississippi, where he worked diligently until his retirement.

Rick was a cherished member of the Coldwater community, known for his warm spirit and unwavering loyalty to family and friends. His life journey was one surrounded by those who loved him deeply, both those who remain and those who have preceded him in death.

He is lovingly remembered by his daughters, Delores Elliott and her husband Kerry of Coldwater, Mississippi, and Joyce Greenwood and her husband Michael of Coldwater, Mississippi. His sons, Jimmy Locke of Coldwater, Mississippi, and Tracy Locke and his wife Dona of Phoenix, Arizona, also carry forward his legacy. Rick was a devoted brother to Roy Locke and his wife Becky of Blue Mountain, Mississippi and grandfather to 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grand children.

Rick was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanie Ruth Freeze Locke, his parents, Ramsey Peyton Locke Sr. and Madie Lou Locke; his sisters, Ann Dean Franco and Dorothy Milliorn; and his brother, Ramsey Peyton Locke Jr., known as "Mickey."

The community will gather to honor and celebrate Rick’s life with visitation on March 30, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. The services will be held at the Palestine United Methodist Church, located at 5053 Palestine Road, Coldwater, Mississippi. Interment will follow at Palestine Cemetery in Coldwater. These moments will provide family, friends, and all those touched by Rick’s life the opportunity to come together in remembrance and gratitude.

Elmer Richard “Rick” Locke’s legacy is one of steadfast service, love for family, and a lifetime of memories cherished by all who knew him. His respectful and enduring presence will be profoundly missed but lovingly remembered.
