Gene Power Taylor

Feb 3, 1943 — Aug 2, 2026

Hernando, MS

Gene Taylor, 83, of Hernando, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born on February 3, 1943, Gene lived a life defined by faith, integrity, hard work, and an unwavering love for his family. A strong Christian man, he was a faithful member of Longview Point Baptist Church, where his quiet faith, humble spirit, and servant's heart were evident to all who knew him.

For 61 wonderful years, Gene was the devoted husband and best friend of the love of his life, Rosemary Taylor. Together they built a home rooted in faith, love, and commitment, creating a legacy that will continue through the generations of their family.

Gene proudly served his country in the Mississippi National Guard and spent his professional career in the loan and mortgage industry. He earned the respect of colleagues, clients, and friends through his honesty, dedication, and strong work ethic.

Outside of work, Gene found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved riding his tractor, caring for his property, and spending countless hours tinkering in his shop. Whether fixing something with his hands or simply enjoying the peace of the outdoors, he found satisfaction in hard work and took pride in everything he did.

Gene's greatest joy was his family. He is lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of 61 years, Rosemary Taylor; his daughter, Cindy Churchwell (Billy); his granddaughter, Taylor Fabrizius (Nelson); his treasured great-grandson, Beauman Fabrizius; and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. He was immensely proud of each of them and considered his family to be his greatest blessing.

He was preceded in death by his father, Warren Taylor; his mother, Adelaide Taylor; his sister, Carolyn McMasters; his brother, William Taylor; and his nephews, Chris McMasters and Michael Taylor.

Those who knew Gene will remember him as a man of strength, steadfast faith, and unwavering character. He led by example, offering wisdom, encouragement, and unconditional love to those around him. His life reflected the values he held dear—faith in God, devotion to family, honesty, humility, and service to others.

Although his family grieves his passing, they find comfort in knowing that Gene has entered his eternal home and now rests in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Gene's life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and his love will remain in the hearts of all who were privileged to know him. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
