George Wayne Waldrop, 73, of Byhalia, Mississippi, passed away on September 6, 2026, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee. He was born on December 31, 1952, in Pontotoc, Mississippi.
George graduated from Pontotoc High School and went on to build a life shaped by creativity, music, and independent work. He was a self-employed stained glass artist and business owner, sharing his talent through a craft that reflected both skill and imagination. He was also a songwriter and musician, pursuits that spoke to his artistic spirit and love of expression. He also enjoyed watching basketball and was an avid Memphis Grizzlies fan.
He will be remembered with love by his family. George is survived by his sons, Warren Waldrop and Eric Waldrop and his wife, Olivia. He is also survived by his brother, Mark Waldrop and his wife, Shara, and by his sister, Gloria Hipple and her husband, Ken. May their memories of George bring comfort in the days ahead and remain a lasting source of strength and peace.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Laughter; his father, Billy Waldrop; his mother, Jane Waldrop; and his brother, Kenny Waldrop.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 14, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Brantley Phillips Funeral Home, 2470 Hwy 51 S, Hernando, Mississippi 38632. A Celebration of Life will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Brantley Phillips Funeral Home.
George Wayne Waldrop’s life was marked by family, artistry, music, and the simple joy of cheering on a favorite team. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
