Glen Alan Newton, 81, of Hernando, Mississippi passed away on October 9, 2025 at Baptist DeSoto Hospital in Southaven, Mississippi. He was born on September 14, 1944 in Memphis, Tennessee, graduated from Treadwell High School, earned his bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Arkansas and his master of divinity degree from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary. He served his country as chaplain in the United States Army and the Army National Guard of Tennessee. He also served as chaplain at Baptist DeSoto Hospital for several years and was a faithful member of DeSoto Hills Baptist Church in Southaven, Mississippi.
Visitation will be from 11 am until a Celebration of Life Funeral Service at 1 pm on Tuesday - October 14, 2025 at DeSoto Hills Baptist Church - 4680 Getwell Road - Southaven, Mississippi. Interment will be in the West Tennessee Veterans Cemetery - 4000 Forest Hill-Irene Rd. - Memphis, Tennessee - Thursday - October 16, 2025 at 11 am. Any who wish to attend are welcome.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Jere and his son, Alan Newton of Southaven, Mississippi. He also leaves behind (5) grandchildren, Victoria Newton, Jackson Newton, Jonathan Newton, Sarah Perkins and Rebekah Perkins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hilton and Wilma Newton, his daughter, Glenda Perkins, his sister, Vesta Schaeffer and his grandson, Daniel Perkins.
