Hayes Martin Carr

Hayes Martin Carr, beloved son, brother, grandson, cousin, and friend, passed away on July 25, 2026, following a tragic automobile accident. Born on November 2, 1994, in Memphis, Tennessee, Hayes brought joy and warmth to all who knew him.

From an early age, Hayes displayed a strong sense of loyalty and passion for life that shaped his relationships and pursuits. He graduated with the Class of 2013 from Magnolia Heights School in Senatobia, Mississippi, where he was selected as a MAIS State All-Star basketball player his senior year.

He continued to showcase his athletic ability as a collegiate athlete in golf - a proud accomplishment for both him and his family - at Delta State University and Northwest Mississippi Community College, where he earned an associate degree.

Hayes chose to work as an appliance installer alongside his step-dad in the family business, Smith Construction. He had the opportunity to work with friends and brought good humor, positive spirit and integrity to the job each day.

Outside of work, Hayes lived life to the fullest.Typically showing up on his own timeline, he enjoyed a vibrant social life. He was rarely in the spotlight but could light up a room, making everyone feel welcome, accepted and genuinely loved.

Known for his unique laugh, Hayes could always be found where fun was on the agenda, creating cherished memories with friends and loved ones.

Whether spending sunny afternoons on the golf course, playing basketball in local leagues or enjoying a game of corn hole, Hayes reveled in moments of competitive play and laughter. He delighted in weekends at the grill or swimming pool, turning simple gatherings into festive celebrations. He looked forward to trips to the beach, where he could relax, golf, and take in the beauty of the emerald coast.

In addition to supporting the Tennessee Titans and Memphis Grizzlies, Hayes was a dedicated Ole Miss fan. He especially loved supporting the Rebels’ athletic events, sharing cheers (Hotty Toddy!) and camaraderie with friends and family - memories that will live on in the hearts of those who experienced them by his side.

Hayes is deeply mourned by his mother, Tamra Todd Smith and her husband Luke, as well as his father, Gary Carr; his brother Lucas Smith; his sister, Heather Valentine, and his niece, Rylee Valentine; his grandparents Thomas “Tommy” and Pam Carr, as well as Carol Smith; his uncles Tommy Carr, Terry Carr, and Randy Todd; his aunt Cassie (Charlie) Shearon; his dog Izzy, and a multitude of family and friends who will forever treasure his memory.

Hayes was preceded in death by his grandparents Carthel and Verna Lee Todd, as well as Smitty Smith; his aunt Pamra Todd West; and his uncle David Todd. Though they are gone, the memories of their time together brought richness to Hayes’s life, and those bonds remain a source of comfort to his loved ones.

The family invites those who knew and loved Hayes to join them in remembering and celebrating his life. The visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, from 11:00a.m. to 2:00p.m. at Hernando Methodist Church, 1890 Mt. Pleasant Road, Hernando, Mississippi. The funeral service will follow at the same location at 2:00p.m. Interment will take place at Greenleaf Cemetery, 3005 Greenleaf Road, Coldwater, Mississippi. Guests are encouraged to wear Ole Miss colors.

In his brief 31 years, Hayes Martin Carr leaves behind a legacy defined by kindness, joy, authenticity, an unwavering commitment to the people he loved, and all the traits that made this world a brighter place! His generous spirit and zest for life touched many, and he will be missed deeply and remembered always.
