James Ray Brockman, born on July 9, 1952, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, passed away on August 21, 2026, at Baptist Desoto Hospital in Southaven, Mississippi. His journey through life was marked by dedication, kindness, and unwavering love for those closest to him.
James was the beloved son of the late Zane Brockman and Joyce Ross Slayton. From an early age, James was recognized for his gentle nature and unyielding work ethic. He was a proud graduate of Pine Bluff High School in Pine Bluff, Arkansas, where he began to shape the principles and values that would guide his life.

Through his exceptional craftmanship, dedication, and attention to detail, he earned the trust and respect of his colleagues and friends.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, James cherished time spent with animals and outdoors. He was especially fond of horses and relished working on horse farms, embracing every opportunity to care for and bond with horses and all manner of farm animals. Among all his animal companions, his little Chihuahua, Muffin, held a very special place in his heart. Their deep and loving bond brought him much joy and comfort throughout the years.
His life was beautifully enriched by the love and partnership he shared with Ron Lewis, his life partner of nearly fifty years. Together, they built a home filled with loyalty, laughter, and shared memories. Ron’s steadfast support was a cornerstone in James’s life, and their enduring relationship stood as a testament to devotion and companionship.
