Joel "Bubba" Maurice O'Bryant III

Joel "Bubba" Maurice O'Bryant III, known affectionately as Bubba, passed away peacefully at his home in Hernando on July 29, 2026, at the age of 67. Born on June 26, 1959, in Memphis, Tennessee, he was the beloved son of the late Christine O'Bryant and Joel Maurice "Buddy" O'Bryant II.

Bubba dedicated his professional life to work as a mechanic, a role in which he was respected for his skill, diligence, and commitment. His mechanical expertise was matched only by his willingness to help others and his steadfast work ethic, making a lasting impact on all who knew him through his chosen craft.

He is survived by his three loving sisters, Cathy O'Bryant Williams of Hernando, MS, Shaye O'Bryant Sowell of Arlington, TX, and Cara O'Bryant of Hernando, MS. His daughter, Jennifer Shelton (Kenneth) of Hernando, MS, and his cherished grandchildren, Archer, Eli, Landon, and Arya. Bubba’s warmth and character will remain present in the lives of his family members, who will always remember his kindness and presence.

He was preceded in death by his devoted parents and his sister, Marda O'Bryant. Their memory, along with Bubba’s enduring spirit, will forever hold a treasured place in the hearts of the family.

A Celebration of Life will be held in his honor on Friday, August 14, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Brantley Phillips Funeral Home, located at 2470 Hwy 51 S, Hernando, MS 38632. All who knew and loved Bubba are invited to gather and pay their respects.
