John Edward Davis, 67, a devoted family man, cherished friend, and lifelong servant to his community and country, passed away on May 8, 2026. Born on August 20, 1958, in Covington, Kentucky, John lived a life marked by dedication, humor, and a spirited embrace of every moment.

John’s professional journey was deeply rooted in his many years of service at Smith Transportation Equipment (STE), where he held various roles including forklift operator, welder, and quality control manager. His diligent work ethic and commitment to excellence left an indelible mark on the company and its people.

A proud veteran, John served his country in the United States Army. His military service was a testament to his strong character and unwavering sense of responsibility.

Among those who knew him best, John was celebrated for his vibrant personality. He was old school Rock N Roll through and through—living life on the edge and to its fullest extent. Known for his generosity, he was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back or the last cent in his pocket without hesitation. His love of laughter and infectious energy made him the life of any gathering, always ensuring everyone was having the best time. John had an unmistakable presence as the loudest voice in the room, radiating joy and bringing people together.

John’s greatest pride and joy were his children and grandchildren, whom he loved more than anything. He leaves behind his beloved daughter, Alexis Sullivan and her husband Larry of Horn Lake, Mississippi; his sons Johnny Davis of Holly Springs, Mississippi, and Trevor Davis and his wife Jaelynn of Senatobia, Mississippi. He also cherished his grandchildren, Joanna and Dianna, whose lives he enriched with his love and spirit.

John’s family extends to his brother, Michael Davis and his wife Laura, and his sister Lisa, who mourn alongside his immediate family in the profound loss of a remarkable man. He is preceded in death by his parents, Russell Taylor and Jo Ann “Penny” Taylor.

Throughout his life, John devoted himself to others in every possible way, leaving a legacy of kindness, laughter, and unyielding love. Those who had the privilege of knowing him will remember his boundless generosity, his passion for life, and his unbreakable devotion to family and friends.
