Mary Norma Pope Todd

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mary Norma Pope Todd, who departed this life on January 28, 2026 at the age of 92. She was born on April 19, 1933 in Bett, Mississippi, and lived a life filled with kindness, generosity, and a love for family and friends.

Mary co-owned Hudson Todd Grocery with her late husband, Hudson Todd, showcasing her entrepreneurial spirit while fostering connections within the community. Her life was characterized by unwavering devotion to her faith, family, and friends. Each day began with her reading the Bible, reflecting her commitment to her spiritual life. Mary cherished family gatherings, eagerly attending events that involved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, providing her an opportunity to savor the joyful moments that being a matriarch brought.

Her friendly and warm nature shone through various activities she adored, such as square dancing, working through word search puzzles, and her well-known skill in baking. Mary was particularly famous for her delectable cakes, pies, and sourdough bread, which will be lovingly remembered by all who tasted her creations.

Mary is survived by her son, Gary Todd and his wife, Gail of Coldwater, MS, and her daughter, Sharon Dearing and her husband, Steve of Hernando, MS. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren: Jason Todd (Ambry Adams), Candice Jordan (Channing), Jeremy Dearing (Elizabeth), Brandon Todd, Chase Todd (Samantha), Cathrine Guerieri (Andrew), Josh Dearing (Natalie), and Adam Dearing (Madison). Her great-grandchildren, Addison Jordan, Avery Jordan, Delton Todd, Lily Grace Guerieri, Harper Guerieri, River Guerieri, Theo Guerieri, Hudson Todd, Maddie Todd, and Liam Dearing will forever carry her memory in their hearts.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Hudson Todd; her parents, Selma and Ethel Scruggs Pope; her sister, Pattie Pruitt; and her brother, Morris Pope.

Mary's life was filled with kindness, generosity, and a profound love for her family and friends. The visitation will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM at Brantley Phillips Funeral Home in Hernando, MS. The address for the funeral home is 2470 Hwy 51 S, Hernando, MS 38632. Interment will follow at Greenleaf Cemetery in Tate County, Mississippi.
