Mary Johnson Smith

Mary Johnson Smith, of Hernando, Mississippi, passed away on October 26, 2026, at Senatobia Healthcare & Rehab. She was born on January 20, 1929, in Pontotoc, Mississippi, and lived a long life marked by devotion to her work and to those she loved.

Mary graduated from Algoma High School in Pontotoc, Mississippi. She later worked in sales and customer service at Sears, where her daily life was shaped by helping others and building connections through her work. She will be remembered with love and gratitude by all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry F. Smith; her brothers, Ruel Johnson, Bobby Johnson, Bud Johnson, Dan Johnson, and Ray Johnson; and her sister, Bennie Johnson Denton.

Mary’s memory will be cherished by her son, Reed Smith, and her daughter, Tina Stewart. She also leaves a beloved family of grandchildren: Kara Smith Creek and her husband Camden, Austin Stewart, Logan Stewart and his wife April, Colton Stewart, Kaley Stewart Lebo and her husband Keith, Josiah Stewart, and Mason Stewart. Her love also lives on in her great-grandchildren, Ava, Nash, Banks, Alden, Ethan, Jett, and Wren. May their memories of her bring comfort in the days ahead and remain a lasting blessing in their lives.

A graveside service for Mary Johnson Smith will be held on October 31, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Grays Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 5020 Getwell Rd S, Hernando, Mississippi 38632. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
