Michael Edward McAlister, affectionately known as Eddie, passed away on October 29, 2026, after a car accident. He was born on February 26, 1954, in Memphis, Tennessee, and carried through his life a steady, hardworking spirit that was evident to all who knew him.
For most of his career, Eddie worked as a self-employed carpenter, a calling that reflected both skill and independence. He was someone who built with his hands and gave shape to the work before him with care and dedication. Beyond his work, he found joy in the outdoors and in the simple, honest rhythms of country life. He loved to hunt and to raise goats and chickens, pursuits that spoke to his deep appreciation for the land and for a life lived close to it.
Eddie was also a member of First Baptist Church in Southaven, Mississippi, where his faith was part of the foundation of his life.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Headley, and her husband, Wayne, of Cordova, Tennessee; and by his brother, Billy McAlister, and his wife, Rita, of Santa Fe, New Mexico. He also leaves the memory of a life that will be cherished by those who knew him and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Morris McAlister, and his mother, Lee McAlister.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Brantley Phillips Funeral Home, 2470 Hwy 51 S, Hernando, Mississippi 38632. A funeral service will follow there at 12:00 p.m. Interment will take place on November 5, 2026, at Saulsbury Methodist Church Cemetery, 232 West St, Saulsbury, Tennessee 38067.
