Michael Byron Weakley

Michael Byron Weakley, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend, passed away on July 26, 2026, at Baptist Desoto Hospital in Southaven, Mississippi. He was born on April 10, 1954, and during his 72 years of life touched the hearts of all who knew him with his warmth, generosity, and unwavering faith.

Michael is survived by those who cherished and loved him deeply. He leaves behind his wife of 28 years, Carol Weakley, whose partnership and love were the cornerstones of his life. His legacy continues through his sons, Larry Mason, Steven Weakley, and James Fowler, each of whom carries forward his values and strong spirit. Michael was also a proud and loving grandfather to November Mason, Lucky Mason, Memphis Mason, Elvis Mason, Abbigale Weakley, Autumn Weakley, and Miya Simms. Their lives were brightened by his joyful presence, his wisdom, and his big heart. He is also survived by his mother, Jeanette Weakley, whose guidance helped shape his character, and by his brother, Howard Weakley.

Michael was preceded in death by his father, George Weakley, and by his daughter, Tonya Craig, both of whom he remembered with fondness and love.

Throughout his life, Michael was known for his strong sense of duty, love of family, and deep faith. Drawing upon this strength, he served proudly in the United States Marines, a testament to his dedication and patriotism. After his military service, Michael worked as a respected salesman at Stovall Engineering Co. in Memphis, Tennessee, where his work ethic and integrity earned him the admiration of colleagues and clients alike.

A man of many interests, Michael’s passions extended far beyond his professional life. He embraced the discipline and art of karate, taekwondo, and Shudokan, finding both joy and personal growth through the martial arts. He was also an avid motorcyclist whose love for the open road was matched only by his fondness for tending to his garden. Through both pursuits, he relished the simple pleasures and beauty that life had to offer. Michael’s weekends were often filled with excitement as a dedicated fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Those who knew Michael best will remember not only his achievements or interests, but the character of the man himself. He had a big heart and a steadfast love for God, qualities that inspired and uplifted all who crossed his path.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Brantley Phillips Funeral Home, located at 2470 Hwy 51 S, Hernando, Mississippi. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM at the same location, where friends and family will come together to celebrate Michael’s remarkable life and the indelible mark he leaves on all who knew him.
