Patricia Mae Phipps Walthall

Patricia Mae Phipps Walthall was born on May 1, 1941, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to Jesse and Mabel Phipps. She came to a saving knowledge of the Lord as a child in VBS. She met her husband, James Robert Walthall, while they were attending Mid-South Bible College in Memphis, Tennessee. They married on January 22, 1965.

She was actively involved with Child Evangelism Fellowship and local churches throughout her life. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Horn Lake, MS, for more than 50 years, where she sang in the choir, served as a Sunday School teacher, taught in the church’s  preschool served as after-school day care director, and participated in discipleship training. She was also a talented florist.

She died quietly in her home at the age of 85 on September 5, 2026. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Mabel Phipps (Muskogee, OK), her husband, James Robert Walthall (Horn Lake, MS), her brothers, Boswell Phipps (Korea), Dan Phipps (Muskogee, OK), Winston Phipps (Muskogee, OK), Denver Phipps (Muskogee, OK) and sister, Margaret Phipps.

She is survived by her son, Andrew Walthall and wife, Angie Walthall (Southaven, MS), her daughter, Margaret Walthall Moore and husband, Jimmy Moore (Batesville, AR), her sister, Virginia Skelton (Muskogee, OK), sister-in-law, Nikki Phipps and sister-in-law, Elizabeth Kay Jonkman (Clovis, CA) her grandchildren, Micah Walthall and his wife, Courtney Walthall (Hernando, MS), Aaron Walthall and his wife, Emma Grace Walthall (Hernando, MS), Kendyl Moore Plaster and her husband, Jade Plaster (Horn Lake), and Cassie Moore (Batesville, AR). Great grandchildren, Emersynne Libby, Atlas Plaster, Red Walthall, and Mabel Walthall as well as many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements:

Saturday, September 12, 2026 at First Baptist Church in Horn Lake located at 3505 Goodman Road in Horn Lake, MS 38637 In the chapel. Visitation 10:00 A.M. Celebration of Life Service 11:00 A.M. Immediate family only will attend Interment at New Bethlehem Cemetery on Church Road.

Patricia Walthall spent her life dedicated to teaching the Bible and discipling therefore, The family request that in lieu of flowers or plants, donations be made in her memory to First Baptist Church Horn Lake's Disciple Resource Center, Child Evangelism Fellowship Camp Sponsorship or Memphis Botanical Gardens.
