Patricia Mae Phipps Walthall was born on May 1, 1941 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Jesse and Mabel Phipps. She came to a saving knowledge of the Lord as a child in VBS. She met her husband James Robert Walthall while they were attending Mid-South Bible College in Memphis, Tennessee. They married on January 22, 1965.
She was actively involved with Child Evangelism and local churches throughout her life. She was a member of First Baptist Church in horn Lake for more than 50 years, where she sang in the choir, served as a Sunday School teacher, taught in the churches pre-school served as after-school day care director and participated in disciple ship training. She was also a talented florist.
She died quietly in her home at the age of 85 on September 5 2026. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Mabel Phipps (Muskogee, OK), her husband, James Robert Walthall (Horn Lake, MS), her brothers, Boswell Phipps (Korea), Dan Phipps (Muskogee, OK), Winston Phipps (Muskogee, OK), Denver Phipps (Muskogee, OK) and sister, Margaret Phipps.
She is survived by her son, Andrew Walthall and Angie Walthall (Southaven, MS) and her daughter, Margaret Walthall Moore and husband, Jimmy Moore (Batesville, AR). Grandsons; Micah Walthall and his wife Courtney Walthall (Hernando, MS) and Aaron Walthall and his wife Emma Grace Walthall (Hernando, MS). Granddaughters; Kendy Moore Plaster and her husband Jade Plaster and Cassie Moore (Batesville, AR). Great grand son, Red Walthall and great granddaughters Emersynne Libby, Atlas Plaster, Mabel Walthall.
Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until a Celebration of Life Funeral Service beginning at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday September 12, 2026 at First Baptist Church in Horn Lake located at 3505 Goodman Road. Interment will follow at New Bethlehem Cemetery on Church Road.
Patricia Walthall spent her life dedicated to teaching the Bible and discipling therefore, The family request that in lieu of flowers or plants, donations be made in her memory to First Baptist Church Horn Lake's Disciple Resource Center, Child Evangelism Fellowship Camp Sponsorship or Memphis Botanical Gardens
