Peggy Joyce McDaniel Cline, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away on August 17, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on August 11, 1937, in Coldwater, Mississippi, Peggy’s long and fruitful life touched all who knew her with warmth, resilience, and dedication.
Peggy was the treasured daughter of M.L Gordon and Aline Gordon. She grew up surrounded by a loving family, which included her siblings Margaret Oswalt, Faye Daniels, Dick Gordon, Allen Gordon, Albert Gordon, and Ralph Gordon, all of whom preceded her in death. From an early age, Peggy displayed the kindness and gentle strength that would go on to define her life.
Peggy graduated from Hernando High School in 1956, embarking on a path of hard work and care for others that would span decades. Her skills and steady hands found a professional home when she worked as a seamstress at Guys Formal Wear in Memphis, Tennessee. Her craftsmanship and reliability left an impression not only in the workplace but in every community she called home.
Love and family were always at the heart of Peggy’s life. She was first married to Ray McDaniel, with whom she raised a family grounded in strong values and unconditional love. After Ray passed away, Peggy later married Joe Cline, who also preceded her in death. Her capacity for love, perseverance, and loyalty enriched every chapter of her journey, and her devotion served as an inspiration to all fortunate enough to be part of her life.
Peggy is survived by her children: David McDaniel and his wife Lisa Ferguson of Memphis, Tennessee, Don McDaniel of Southaven, Mississippi, and Joanna McDaniel of Southaven, Mississippi. Her legacy further lives on through her granddaughter, Ashley Davis and her husband Ryan of Goodlettsville, Tennessee, and her great-grandchild, Aleks Davis. Peggy’s presence was a guiding light for her family; her wisdom, sense of humor, and enduring support will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
Family, friends, and those whose lives were touched by Peggy are invited to pay their respects at Brantley Phillips Funeral Home, 2470 Hwy 51 S, Hernando, MS 38632. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place at Hernando Memorial Cemetery, 2801 Magnolia Dr, Hernando, MS 38632.

She will be profoundly missed, but her spirit and influence will endure in the hearts of those she loved.
