Horn Lake, MS

Randall Scott Vanlandingham, affectionately known as Scott, passed away on May 9, 2026, leaving behind a legacy marked by kindness, dedication, and a deep love for his family. Born on March 11, 1971, in Memphis, Tennessee, Scott spent his life rooted in the community that shaped him.

Scott built a commendable career as a locksmith, dedicating over two decades to the trade with various companies, most notably The Flying Locksmiths in Memphis, TN. His work reflected not only his skill but also his unwavering commitment to his craft.

Those who knew Scott remember him as a very kind individual. His mother would fondly recall that he was a very sweet baby, a testament to the gentle nature that remained with him throughout his life. He was a man who loved all his children deeply and cherished the bonds they shared.

Scott’s interests were as diverse as his talents. He had a profound love for music and enjoyed cooking and grilling, often bringing family and friends together around the table. An avid collector, he took pleasure in gathering numerous items that intrigued him. Furthermore, he found great joy and solace in hunting and fishing, passions that connected him with the natural world.

He is survived by his sons Asa Vanlandingham and Max Sanders, and his daughter Emma Eads. He is also lovingly remembered by his mother, Barbara Houston; his brother Michael Wright and his wife Gayle; his sisters Rae Marie Barnett and her husband Tim, and Nicole Hamilton; his grandchildren Aiden, Jase, Alyiah, and Emerson; Stephanie Paisley, mother of his sons as well as several nieces and nephews.

Scott was preceded in death by his wife, Amy Cain; his father, Joseph T. Houston; and his brother James Wright.

In reflecting on Scott’s life, the words of Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 offer a thoughtful perspective: "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven." Scott’s time with us may have concluded, but the impact of his love, kindness, and dedication endures in the hearts of his family and friends.
