Richard Edward Ross, born on January 27, 1946, in Hartford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at home on December 16, 2025. He was a retired salesman at Stanley Hardware Corporation in Hartford, CT, whose character and dedication were exemplified in both his professional and personal life.
Richard was a proud graduate of Hartford High School in Hartford, CT. Throughout his life, he was known for his passion for sports, often dedicating his time to coaching youth teams in football, track, and baseball within the Shelby Youth Sports organization in the Memphis area. His dedication to nurturing the talents and teamwork of young athletes remained one of his proudest accomplishments.
Richard is survived by his daughter, Rhonda Presley and her husband Timothy of Olive Branch, MS; his sons, Keith Ross and his wife Carey of Hoover, AL, and Christopher Ross of Southaven, MS. He also leaves behind a sister, Joan Lucco and her husband Alfred, as well as an adoring family of grandchildren: Jacob Willingham, Jenna Hughes, Caleb Ross, Conner Ross, Seth Ross and Wyatt Ross. His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Bennett Hughes, Briar Willingham, Monroe Ross, Reina Ross, and Braelyn Ross. Richard shared a special bond with his partner, Cindy Hooker, who will remember him fondly.
Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 45 years, Janice Ross, as well as his parents, Edward and Josephine Rosensweig.
Visitation will be from 10 am until a celebration of life memorial service beginning at 11 am on Saturday January 3rd, 2026 at Brantley-Phillips Funeral Home to honor the memory of this remarkable man who touched the lives of many with his kindness, spirit, and love for sports. Richard Edward Ross will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him.
