Rickey Warren Dowty Sr.

Rickey Warren Dowty, Sr., of Coldwater, Mississippi, was born on October 22, 1953, in Blytheville, Arkansas. Surrounded by the love of his family, he lived a life rooted in faith, family, hard work, and dedication. His legacy is one of strength, kindness, and unwavering love for those he called his own.

Rickey was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Mary Virginia Dowty. Together they built a family that became the center of his life and his greatest source of pride.

He is survived by his children: Christy Chambers (Keith), Rickey Dowty, Jr. (Theresa), Ronnie Dowty (Shelli), Brandy McCoy, Carrie Robinson, Reni Payne (Jonathan), Amber Massey, and Jerrell Robinson (Mackenzie).

He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Sara Bridgette McNeese, Lacey Dowty, Ashlee Kemper (Raegan), Hannah Freeman (Tucker), Jessica Coburn (Alby), Jeffrey Redd, Jaylon Robinson (Autumn), Lelin Dowty, Liela Whitaker, Dominic Whitaker, and Ariana Wilson.

His legacy continues through his great-grandchildren: Jaxon Campbell, Caroline Fair, Oliver McNeese, Virginia Grace McNeese, Selena Kemper, Emalee Kemper, Lyla-Ann

Gattis, Aaron Coburn, Mari’ella Jean LaShay Redd, and Aesira Nyx Robinson.

Rickey is also survived by his brother, Randy Wilson, and his sister, Sherrie Ledet (Mark), along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will forever treasure his memory.

Rickey also leaves behind his dear friend, Dexter Whitaker, whose friendship and loyalty meant so much to him throughout the years.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Lessie “Maw” Dowty; his father, Warren “Pop” Dowty; his mother, Shirley Wilson; his brother, Terry Dowty; and his daughter, Teresa Dowty.

Rickey’s life was a testament to the importance of family, perseverance, and love. He leaves behind countless memories that will continue to bring comfort, laughter, and strength to those who knew him. Though his physical presence will be deeply missed, his influence and the love he shared will remain in the hearts of his family for generations to come.

As written in Ecclesiastes 3:1–4:

“To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die… A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance.”

The family finds peace in knowing that Rickey’s life was filled with purpose and that his memory will continue to live on through those who love him.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Brantley-Phillips Funeral Home located at 2470 Highway 51 South, Hernando, MS. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Brantley-Phillips Funeral Home. Family and friends are invited to attend as they gather to honor and celebrate Rickey’s life.
