Stephen Oliver Rose, affectionately known as Steve, passed away on July 1, 2026, at his home. He was born on January 19, 1946, in Memphis, Tennessee. Throughout his eighty years, Stephen was recognized for his dedication to his family, his commitment to his work, and his profound appreciation for music.

Stephen built a fulfilling career as a residential painter and was respected for his craftsmanship and work ethic within the community. After many years of dedicated service, he retired, looking back with pride on the countless homes and spaces he helped beautify through his trade.

A man of diverse interests, Steve deeply loved music. He found great joy in playing his guitar and sharing his voice through singing, most notably in his church where his performances were a cherished feature of worship for fellow congregants. His passion for music brought happiness not only to himself but also to those fortunate enough to listen.

Stephen’s life was enriched by his family. He is survived by his wife, Rosie Harris Rose; his daughter, Rebecca Bouizankad and her husband Simo; step-daughter, Mary Bain and her husband Donald; and step-sons, Gerald Applewhite and his wife Argenta and Sylvester Applewhite. He is also survived by his sisters, Linda Haddock and her husband Dewayne and Diana Carden; his brothers, Dominic Spina and Allen Rose; as well as by his brother-in-law, Nathan Applewhite, the mother of his daughter, Margie Glover, as well as numerous grandchildren and great grand children.

He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Rose, mother, Annie Manning and his brothers; John Newsom and Thomas Aaron Rose. His beloved grandson, Zakaria, also predeceased him.
