Thomas Howard Harrison

Thomas Howard Harrison, 87, known to many as Howard, passed away on September 18, 2026, at his home in Greenleaf, Mississippi. He was born on July 3, 1939, in Memphis, Tennessee, and lived a life marked by service, steady character, and deep appreciation for the people and places he loved.

Howard graduated from Memphis Tech High School in Memphis, Tennessee and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in criminology from Memphis State University. He devoted his professional life to public service, serving with the Memphis Police Department for more than 30 years and retiring as a police captain. His career reflected a lasting commitment to duty, and, in his own words, he felt that he had always operated with integrity. That sense of honor remained an important part of how he saw his life and work.

In the years beyond his career, Howard found great joy in living in Greenleaf, Mississippi. He enjoyed being on his farm and loved spending time there. The farm was one of the places that brought him peace and happiness, and it reflected much of what mattered most to him. He loved the Greenleaf Community, and he loved animals, finding simple and lasting contentment in the life he built there.

Howard will be remembered with love by his wife, S. Kaye Harrison, and by his sons, Mark Harrison and Michael Harrison as well as his (5) grandchildren and (5) great-grand children. He also leaves behind the memory of a life devoted to family, work, and home, and those who knew him will carry that memory forward with gratitude and affection.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Bill and Lucille Harrison, and by his son, Brad Harrison. As his family and friends remember him, they will remember a man who served faithfully, cherished his farm and community, and valued living with integrity. His life leaves a lasting impression on those who were privileged to know and love him.
