Thomas Ray Stokes, 86, affectionately known as "Tommy," passed away on December 9, 2025, at Baptist Desoto Hospital in Southaven, MS, surrounded by family. Born on April 5, 1939, in Horn Lake, Mississippi, Tommy lived a life filled with dedication, love, and passion for both his family and his work.

A proud graduate of Messick High School in Memphis, TN, Tommy went on to serve in the United States Air Force, an experience that contributed to his strong sense of duty and community. Following his military service, he enjoyed a fulfilling career as a blacksmith welder, working for both ICG Rail Road and Canadian National Railway. In addition to his welding career, Tommy co-owned Cherokee Bowling Lanes in Memphis, TN, alongside his late wife, Elizabeth Stokes. He also served as the manager at Cotton Bowl Lanes in Southaven, MS, where he shared his love of bowling with many.

Tommy was known for his skills on the lanes, earning recognition as an excellent bowler and a proud member of the 300 club, celebrating the achievement of perfect games. His passion for bowling was rivaled only by his love for hunting, which he pursued with enthusiasm throughout his life.

He is survived by his beloved daughter, Penny Linton of Walls, MS, and his brother, Jerry Stokes, and his wife Linda. Tommy's legacy continues through his grandchildren, Julie Flynn and her husband Joseph, Christopher Linton and his wife Ana, as well as his great-grandchildren, Colby, MacKenzie, Kylie, and Collin. Each of them holds cherished memories of their time spent with him.

Tommy is preceded in death by his devoted wife, Elizabeth Stokes, his parents, Grover and Martha Voeckman Stokes, his sister, Joyce Jackson, and his brother, Danny Stokes. His family, friends, and all who knew him will fondly remember his warmth, humor, and the inspiring legacy he leaves behind.
