He passed away on January 20, 2026, in Southaven, Mississippi, following a tragic house fire alongside his beloved son, Tyler Wright. His departure leaves a profound void in the hearts of many, particularly within his cherished community, where he was known for his hard work and generosity as a respected independent contractor in the commercial HVAC industry.
Tom's dedication to his craft was only matched by his commitment to those around him. He took great pride in his work and was admired not only for his skills but also for his willingness to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Throughout his life, Tom embodied the spirit of community, enriching the lives of those who were fortunate enough to know him.
A proud veteran, Tom honored his country by serving in the United States Navy, where he spent time aboard The USS Kitty Hawk aircraft carrier. This experience shaped his character and instilled in him a sense of discipline and respect that he carried with him throughout his life.
Tom was a loving husband to Karla Wright who continues to recover in the hospital and father to Thomas Wright Jr. He is also survived by his siblings, James Kerry Wright and his wife Katherine, Debbie Frankie and her husband Luke, Dr. Tim Wright and his wife Dr. Susan Sullivan, Julie Carter and her husband Ken, Delores Nowell and his sister-in-law, Janice Sullivan and her husband Paul, along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will forever cherish his memory. Tom's impact on their lives will endure through countless shared stories and fond recollections.
He was preceded in death by siblings, Earl Schooler Wright, Earl Kenneth Wright, Gene Wright and Randy Schooler Wright.
In celebration of Tom's life, his family wishes to announce that a gathering in his honor will take place at a later date. As they navigate this time of sorrow, they hold tightly to the memories of a man who was not only a dedicated family member but also a beloved figure within the community.
