William Charles “Chip” Sneed Jr., 72 of Hernando, Mississippi passed away at his home surrounded by family on October 6, 2025.

He was born on November 16, 1952 in Memphis, Tennessee and graduated from Memphis Catholic High School. Chip served as Fire Chief with over 45 years of service at the Memphis Fire Department in Memphis, Tennessee and was a founding member of Tennessee Task Force 1. Chip helped lead a unit to the Pentagon in Washington D.C. after the devastation following 9/11. His leadership and commitment to excellence helped shape the success of TN-TF1 and was a cornerstone of the organization from its earliest days.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Boyce-Sneed, his daughter, April Sneed Moss (Joseph) of Maumelle, Arkansas, and son, Will Sneed and his wife, Michelle of Germantown, Tennessee, (2) step children, Jason Boyce and his wife, Amanda and Paul Boyce and his wife, Natalie all of Hernando, Mississippi. He also leaves behind (2) sisters; Lisa Sneed of Memphis, Tennessee and Beverly Nicoles of Nashville, Tennessee, (2) brothers, Karl Sneed and his wife, Carolyn of Hilton Head, South Carolina and Steve Sneed of Memphis, Tennessee, (11) grandchildren, Autumn Moss, Faith Sneed, Summer Moss, Chance Boyce, Gavin Boyce, Gabriel Boyce, Colby Boyce, Grace Boyce, Sawer Boyce, Ryan Wesley and Emily Bass, the mother of his children, Donna Sneed of Maumelle, Arkansas, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that all loved and will miss him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Charles Sneed Sr. and Beverly Marie Darling, his son, Jeffery Rowe and brother, John Sneed.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday October 19, 2025 at 2 p.m. at the Memphis Fire Museum - 118 Adams Ave. Memphis, Tennessee 38103. Everyone is encouraged to dress casual.
