Yvonne Goodman Leal

Yvonne Goodman Leal, 90, born February 7, 1936, in Arkansas, passed away on March 22, 2026, at Baptist Desoto Hospital in Southaven, Mississippi. She leaves behind a legacy marked by dedication to her family and friends.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Victor Leal, with whom she shared many years of marriage. She was also predeceased by her parents, Pres and Cordie Goodman, grounding influences who shaped her early life in Arkansas. In addition, Yvonne mourned the loss of her son, Guy Robert Schopp, as well as her brothers Lloyd Goodman and Jimmy Goodman, and her sister Marie Goodman.

She is lovingly remembered by her surviving family members who cherish her memory deeply. Her sons, George Kenneth Schopp and his wife Julia of Lewisville, Texas, Ty P. Schopp and his wife Annette of Hernando, Mississippi, and Todd Schopp of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida, carry forward her spirit in their lives. Yvonne is also survived by her daughters Kathy Whren of Portland, Oregon, and Michele Scilla and her husband Vincenzo of New York, New York.

Her family was further blessed by the presence of seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, who were a source of joy and pride throughout her life.

Yvonne Goodman Leal’s life was a testament to her enduring values and the strength of her familial bonds. Her memory will continue to inspire those who knew her and were touched by her warmth and kindness. She will be remembered with great respect and affection by her family and friends alike.

A graveside service will be held at Patty Cemetery in Pontiac, IL on Thursday, March 23, 2026 at 10 AM.
